Inquisition Victims

The Jewish Museum in Belmonte Housed a Memorial to the Victims of the Inquisition from Beira Interior and Belmonte and the names in this Collection were on that Memorial Wall.  As we know the Belmonte Community survived until modern times and many families can easily recount their Crypto-Jewish histories and many of these last names are still used widely in Belmonte and its’ surroundings.

Víctimas de la Inquisición

El Museo Judío de Belmonte contenia una pared con la memoria de los víctimas de la Inquisición de Beira Interior y Belmonte. Los nombres de esta region estaban en ese Muro Memorial. Como sabemos, la Comunidad  Cripto-Judia de Belmonte sobrevivió hasta los tiempos modernos y muchas familias pueden relatar fácilmente sus historias failiares. Estos apellidos se ven hoy en dia  ampliamente en Belmonte y sus alrededores.
